Launch of munawarahmed.com with Astro
For years my work lived in two places: munwr and munawarjs. Today both are replaced by one site under my own name: munawarahmed.com.
The old rule still applies: Make it work, Make it better. One domain, one story, less stuff to maintain.
munawarjs was my first site built with Astro, so picking it again was easy. This time I skipped the template and built it from scratch.
- Static output. Every page is plain HTML at build time. No JavaScript framework is shipped to the browser, only a few small inline scripts (the theme switcher, for example).
- Content collections. The posts from munawarjs moved over as Markdown files, checked against a schema so a missing title or date fails the build.
- Inlined styles. CSS is inlined into each page, so there is no extra request before the page can render.
- Auto, Dark and Light themes. Auto follows your system setting.
- Sitemap generated by
@astrojs/sitemap.
It is deployed on Vercel: every push to main goes live.
If you came from one of my old sites, you are in the right place. The posts keep their paths under /posts/.
Astro is still my default for sites like this. If you build content sites, try it.
